It can be a lot of fun to photograph the great outdoors with scenic vistas and amazing wildlife. At this meetup, we'll explore the optimal settings and techniques for capturing landscapes and wildlife. We will embark on a nature photo walk along a 1-mile loop trail. We'll have fun with some photo challenges along the way. At the conclusion, we will review, share, and discuss our photo results with each other. Park admission is $6 (or less).

This young woman was waiting for a ceremony to begin that I was attending. She lives in West Africa and was wearing a string of random beads that my African friends prefer. Her expression was open but patient and knowing. I thought some of her grandmother's wisdom must have come to her, just like the necklace.

I took a picture of an old oak tree in central Texas which I used for reference. I decided to represent it in an iconic vignette type rather than a straight up landscape painting.

This painting is based on a photo by Nicholas Carlino. The photo was posted in the Facebook group ?Landscape Reference Photos for Artists? and it was their monthly challenge for May, which is why I painted it. It is Mystic Seaport in Mystic Ct.

I am recovering from being paralyzed from the neck down with Guillain Barre Syndrome. I have always had a gift of art. I was so afraid that being paralyzed for over a year that I would lose my gift? my prayers were answered and my ?gift? is better now than before. I do not draw anything,, I see it in my head and then I paint. I do not have fine motor skills in my hands and I tell people I can not load and unload the dishwasher but I can hold a paintbrush!!!

This painting inspired by the local ocean at sunrise is on a 4x6 inch canvas board. I particularly like the texture the canvas gives the painting and the translucence of paint on the canvas giving a watery sea foam effect.
